The Loop Fantasy Football Update Week 2: Taylor Swift’s pal Kelce to return
Published Tue, 24 Dec 2024 02:32:01 GMT
UPDATE: 11:41 a.m. SaturdayIt’s already been a big newsmaking week for Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.First, the all-pro was reported to be “hanging out” with Taylor Swift. Yes, that Taylor Swift. Now comes word that tomorrow he’ll be hanging out again with Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs’ all-world offense.K.C. was certainly laboring without its star TE in its opening loss to Detroit. As they head down to Duval County for Week 2, look for Kelce to get the ball early and often against a Jaguars team looking for revenge for its 2022 playoff ouster at the hands of the Chiefs. The news isn’t so good for two top running backs. The Chargers’ Austin Ekeler (ankle) is considered doubtful for tomorrow’s game in Tennessee. So Joshua Kelley will see another big workload. And Green Bay’s Aaron Jones (hamstring) is not looking promising, which means a busier day for teammate A.J. Dillon. Two notables will be making their 2023 debuts this week: Denver WR Jerry Jeudy and Indy RB Zack...Woodbury man, 25, dies in solo motorcycle crash on I-94

Elehuris Montero is proving me wrong.I was beginning to have doubts that the Rockies’ first baseman would ever make it in the big leagues. I was starting to believe he was a Quadruple-A player who would fade away and become a footnote in the trade that sent Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals. It was already clear that Montero wasn’t going to make it as a third baseman and his play at first was sketchy. His at-bats were painful to watch.True, he shredded minor league pitching when he had two stints at Triple-A Albuquerque earlier in the season, hitting .359 with a 1.129 OPS and 15 homers in just 35 games.Yes, Montero, at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, is a powerhouse, but major league pitchers made him look helpless when they started feeding him a steady diet of down-and-away breaking balls. When he whiffed four times in an Aug. 7 game at Milwaukee, his average was down to .197 and his strikeout rate was up to 40%. Montero’s confidence was shaken. But a remarkable thing has happene...Shohei Ohtani’s locker at Angel Stadium cleared out; team gives no explanation

That rumor became closer to reality on Friday as Ohtani's locker at Angel Stadium was seemingly cleared out, according to multiple reports. OAKLAND — A Bay Area man has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison for killing a man during a confrontation at a local gas station, court records show.Brian LeGrand Jr., 37, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the March 25, 2021 shooting death of 29-year-old Derrick Glenn. LeGrand was identified as a suspect after an anonymous tipster told police LeGrand blamed Glenn for the drug overdose death of a relative.Video surveillance of the shooting showed a man with a tattoo on his neck pulling a gun and shooting Glenn after the two spoke for about 15 minutes. Police say they matched the neck tattoo from the video to LeGrand. At LeGrand’s August preliminary hearing, the defense argued video showed Glenn had a gun next to him as he sat in his car, and that he must have made a move for the weapon just before LeGrand produced his own pistol and fired.LeGrand entered his no contest plea in July, and was sentenced Aug. 16. Executives from Washington and Oregon acknowledged in writing that they would be excluded from decisions related to the future of the Pac-12 — a potentially critical piece of evidence as Washington State and Oregon State, the only remaining schools, wage a legal battle for control of the conference. The letters were written by Washington president Ana Mari Cauce and Oregon vice president Kevin S. Reed to Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff. They are dated Aug. 4, the day the Huskies and Ducks agreed to join the Big Ten, and were obtained by the Hotline this week from Whitman County (Wash.) Superior Court.Except for the first six words, the letters are identical. (Cauce’s version is below.) They begin by explaining that the Pacific Northwest powers would not sign “a grant of media rights authorization” — the move that sent five other schools fleeing to other leagues and triggered the Pac-12’s collapse. The letters then state that Washington and Oreg...Latest news
