Matt Wallner delivered a bases-loaded triple to put the AL Central-leading Twins up 3-0 in the first inning.Ryan Jeffers added an RBI single in the four-run first. Players from both teams left their respective benches and bullpens and convened between hom...

The 2016 Olympic champion was even better in front of an SAP Center crowd that roared every time she saluted the judges to start a routine. They only grew louder when ...

Callahan: The Patriots’ preseason finale shouldn’t dampen a successful summer

Published Thu, 14 Nov 2024 12:12:49 GMT

Callahan: The Patriots’ preseason finale shouldn’t dampen a successful summer The Patriots’ to-do list at the start of the summer was longer than a grocery list coming back from vacation. In order, those to-dos were: elevate Mac Jones. Install a new offense. Restore the trust that fractured last year across the locker room and coaching staff. Refine a defense that will face virtually every elite quarterback in the league this season. Determine whether any of the rookies can start, let alone contribute. All told, over close to 20 practices and three preseason games, most of the boxes on Bill Belichick’s list have been checked. The cupboard is largely full. It’s mission, mostly, accomplished. This summer, Jones sprayed completions all over the field during some of his best practices as a pro. He shredded defenses in Foxboro and Green Bay, where he dominated the Packers for long stretches of back-to-back joint sessions. Teammates already believe he’s “way better.”Jones is calm and confident, a stark departure from the exasperated ...

Patriots fall to Titans in preseason finale as Bailey Zappe’s tepid summer continues

Published Thu, 14 Nov 2024 12:12:49 GMT

Patriots fall to Titans in preseason finale as Bailey Zappe’s tepid summer continues Patriots head coach Bill Belichick entertained the possibility of a quarterback competition into training camp this summer, but backup quarterback Bailey Zappe never came close to pushing Mac Jones for the job.The lack of a QB battle was as evident as ever Friday night in the Patriots’ third and final preseason game when Zappe started and played the majority of the game while Jones chilled on the sideline with the majority of Patriots starters.Zappe needed the extra work in the Patriots’ 23-7 loss to the Titans in their preseason finale. The 2022 fourth-round pick briefly gave way to third-stringer Trace McSorley midway through the second quarter. The Patriots made a surprise move by re-inserting Zappe into the game to start the third quarter. Undrafted rookie wide receiver/quarterback Malik Cunningham took two snaps under center on the Patriots’ opening drive in the second half before Zappe once again took over at quarterback until late in the fourth quarter.Cunningham p...
