An off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot’s alleged midair sabotage attempt of a Horizon Air flight from Seattle to San Francisco on Sunday — and the pilot’s later admission that he had been depressed — highlights the major concerns that pilot mental health poses to the airline industry. It was an issue that came to international attention when a Germanwings copilot in 2015 locked the captain out of the cockpit midflight and deliberately dove their Airbus into the French Alps, killing all 150 aboard. At that time, the FAA reviewed and revised its mental health policies for flight crews. But experts say that seeking treatment can cost pilots their wings.“If you’re crazy enough to admit you have a mental problem, that’s basically the end of your career at an airline,” said Ross “Rusty” Aimer, a retired airline pilot and CEO of Aero Consulting Experts. “We as pilots hide anything that has to do with mental illness. It’s sad...Police sources: At least 16 dead in Maine mass shooting incident

I just sort of have to wait around and hope nobody tries to steal my identity.”She said she had no idea nor did she receive any notification of a security breach from Prince George’s County public schools.“Your information is just out there and then you just wait until something happens,” Cherkaoui said. “I’m sure most of the time they’re not catching these cybercriminals that are out there stealing people’s identities ...Justin Herbert’s struggles in the past 2 Chargers games bring more attention to his broken finger

However, his recent play has not made them go away. The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback spent nearly four minutes following Wednesday’s practice discussing the broken middle finger on his left, non-throwing hand. “I think every day it’s getting better. We’re coming up on four weeks, so just doing everything I can to limit the pain and make sure I’m out here being safe,” Herbert said.Herbert suffered the injury late in the third quarter during a 24-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 1. MOSCOW (AP) — Russia’s military conducted a simulated nuclear strike in a drill Wednesday overseen by President Vladimir Putin, hours after the upper house of parliament voted to rescind the country’s ratification of a global nuclear test ban. The bill to end ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, approved in the lower house last week, will now be sent to Putin for final approval. Putin has said that revoking Russia’s 2000 ratification would “mirror” the stance of the U.S., which signed but did not ratify the nuclear test ban.State television showed Putin directing the exercise via video call with top military officials.Russia’s Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu said the purpose of the drills is to practice “dealing a massive nuclear strike with strategic offensive forces in response to a nuclear strike by the enemy.” While similar drills are held every autumn, Shoigu’s pointed comments came amid soaring tensions between Russia and the West ove...Latest news
