MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Senate’s elections committee was set to vote Monday on the future of the battleground state’s top elections official, clearing the way for the full Republican-controlled Senate to vote on firing her as soon as Thursday.Democrats have accused GOP leaders of improperly pushing through the confirmation process for nonpartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe after the commission’s three Republicans and three Democrats deadlocked along party lines in a reappointment vote in June.Monday’s vote comes despite objections from the state’s Democratic attorney general and the Legislature’s own nonpartisan attorneys who have said that without a majority vote by the commission to reappoint Wolfe, the Senate cannot go forward with deciding whether to confirm or fire her.In the absence of a majority vote by the commission, a recent Supreme Court ruling appears to allow Wolfe to stay in office indefinite...Grains mixed, Livstock higher.

Harris, who arrived with New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, passed not far from where DeSantis and his wife stood. Along with Ha...Celebrities spotted in Boulder for CU vs. Nebraska game

Former Pakistani international cricketer Khalid Latif was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Dutch court for putting a €21,000 bounty on far-right politician Geert Wilders’ head.“The court rules that the suspect’s statements … should be seen as an attempt to provoke murder, incitement and threats. The words used by the suspect are unambiguous: He promises a significant amount of money to perform a specific act, namely killing Wilders,” the District Court of The Hague ruled on Monday.Latif offered the money to anyone who would carry out a hit on Wilders, prosecutors said, after the populist Party for Freedom chief devised a cartoon contest in 2018 calling on people to send in caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. The competition angered Muslims, as any depictions of Muhammad are considered blasphemous. In a social media clip, Latif promised 3 million Pakistani rupees to anyone who would kill “the person who planned this game,” adding, “If I had more...Latest news
