YWCA fundraiser a high-heeled walk in the park at Santana Row

What do you call a crowd of more than 600 people — overwhelmingly men — walking around Santana Row in high heels and carrying signs? If you’re Adriana Caldera Boroffice, CEO of the YWCA of Golden Gate Silicon Valley, you’d call that a huge success.That was the scene Thursday at the swanky shopping center in San Jose for Walk a Mile in Their Shoes, the YWCA’s annual event to raise funds and awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence.“We’re well on our way to surpassing what we did last year,” Boroffice said. One arrested for armed robbery at Milpitas gas station

(KRON) – A person was arrested Friday in San Jose for an alleged armed robbery that occurred Thursday morning in Milpitas. At 7:02 a.m., police received a report of an armed robbery at a gas station located at the 100 block of South Park Victoria Drive. According to police, the suspect threatened the store employee and took around $600 in cash from the register before fleeing the area in a black sedan.  Over 30 displaced, dog dead in massive San Jose fire The Milpitas Police Department identified the suspect vehicle through automated license plate readers and later identified the suspect, who is on probation for weapons violations. Brazil coach Sundhage out to plug big gap in career with Women’s World Cup glory

TERESOPOLIS, Brazil (AP) — The decorated career of Swedish coach Pia Sundhage in women’s soccer includes Olympic gold medals with the USA in 2008 and 2012 and a silver with her own country in 2016, national and continental titles and personal accolades. But one big gap in the 63-year-old’s coaching career is a World Cup crown. Next month she will try to achieve that with Brazil, which is also seeking its first trophy in the tournament as the great Marta nears the end of her playing days. (WSVN) – A previous passenger who took a ride on the submersible less than one month ago shared his story of what it’s like inside.Craig Curran said he suited up for his trip but the dive was called off due to ice and bad weather.The incident this week hit close to home, he said two of the people who died on their tour of the Titanic were his friends.Curran believes this tragedy will only push forward the improvement of the technology behind the submersible and the world of exploration.

Rain favors the morning today with some late afternoon/evening sun. Tomorrow the afternoon and evening favors scattered thunderstorms. There will be times we can get outside and see some sun too!A warm front is lifting across the region this morning. Some of the heaviest rain has fallen for our friends in Rhode Island. A line of heavy rain producing rainfall totals of 1.0 -1.50″ reported so far. By this afternoon, shower chances become more isolated.
