After six weeks of play, in their 37th game, the Giants played their first road contest that didn’t involve a time change. An effect of this year’s balanced schedule, all but six of these first set of games have come against non-divisional opponents.That means their sluggish start, entering Thursday’s series opener in Arizona at 16-20, hasn’t sunken them in the NL West. PHOENIX (AP) — Rookie Casey Schmitt had four more hits, including a two-run homer, and Alex Cobb blanked Arizona into the eighth inning as the San Francisco Giants beat the Diamondbacks 6-2 on Thursday night.Schmitt connected for a 443-foot home run into the second deck above the Diamondbacks’ bullpen in the second inning off Tommy Henry (1-1).
